Makerere University Walter Reed Project and Makerere University-John's Hopkins University.
Makerere University Walter-Reed Project (MUWRP) and Makerere University John's Hopkins University (MUJHU) will be working on two collaborative projects funded by the National Institute of Health entitled "Immunopathogenesis of Immune Reconstitution Inflammatory Syndrome" and "Mucosal Determinants of HIV Infection in Infants by Breast Milk." The Projects are looking for a suitable candidate to fill the position below.

Position Title: Laboratory Technologist
Location: Kampala
(based in Makerere University Walter Reed Project Laboratory)Essential Duties and Training Responsibilities:
1. Proficiently perform specimen accessioning and plasma, CSF, PBMC, and serum processing per SOP.
2. Testing cells by multiparameter flow cytometry and running of samples on a FACSCanto flow cytometer.
3. Facilitate communication between the clinical staff at MUJHU, heads of section at MUWRP, and researchers at the University of Colorado.
4. Perform QA/QC, maintain laboratory equipment, including but not limited to service and repair as established by SOPs and QA/QC guidelines.
5. Maintain lab database and ensure accurate documentation from records to results.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Knowledge and Abilities.
Bachelors degree in Biomedical Laboratory Technology orBachelors in Medical laboratory Sciences or any related science laboratory fieldFlow cytometry experienceHighly motivated individual who is able to work independently and in a team

Supervisory Controls: The incumbent will work under the supervision of the laboratory supervisor or his/her designee as mutually agreed upon by the Laboratory Co-Director and Investigators.

Period of Work: 1-2 years.
